José Verstappen is the long-time Executive Director of Early Music Vancouver. His dedication to presenting the very finest early music performers has contributed significantly to Vancouver’s place as a world leader in early music. With his knowledge of Canadian and international talent, José was instrumental in assembling the world class artistic talent for Festival Vancouver’s two fully-staged, new baroque opera productions, Monteverdi’s masterpieces Orfeo (2000) and The Coronation of Poppea (2003). José uses his considerable design skills to assist many arts organizations in Vancouver to put a professional look on their programs and posters. He has also been instrumental in building the Vancouver Early Music Programme into an internationally respected training ground for young professional musicians.
